Plot
In four contests Sgt Carter ends up losing bets to Sgt Hacker and buying $10.00 diners at the local café. Carter thinks he's going to win because one of his new recruits is a archery instructor...until Pyle opens up his big mouth to Hacker. Carter finds Pyle can run a mile in minuites and then tricks Hacker to pick Pyle; Hacker uses psychology so that Pyle will lose; Carter finds out and thinks he'll get rich by placing bets against Pyle; Pyle actually wins and both Sgts lose..Hacker has to pay for a $20.00 steak dinner and Carter loses his bets...!
Notes
- Gomer explains he got to be so fast because he had to run from Wally's Filling Station a mile to the Mayberry Vol. Fire Dept..so he wont lose his place and ring the fire truck bell
- At the end Carter moans it will take him 6 months to pay off his bets..in fact he has to pay $50.00 to a fellow Sgt..thanks to Pyle tracking him!
