Summary[]
Barney plays a matchmaker for Andy.
Plot[]
Andy and Helen become an item, but not before Barney has his say. Determined to find Andy a wife, Barney parades every eligible female in town through Andy's living room. Andy, though, wants nothing to do with any of them; until he meets Helen Crump. She, of course, doesn't meet with Barney's approval.
Notes/Trivia[]
- In this episode, you might notice that Amanda's (the first potential wife to show up at the Taylor home) voice sounds familiar. Janet Waldo, the actress who portrayed Amanda, is better known for being the voice of Judy Jetson in the long-running cartoon series The Jetsons.
- When Barney said, "A man who's been married once before.” We never revealed Andy's wife's name or how she died throughout the series.
- When Andy and Helen are standing together at Thelma Lou's house Barney says "We might just be looking at the next Mrs. Andy Taylor." Old Barn would prove quite the prophet because Miss Crump would indeed become the next Mrs. Andy Taylor in the first episode of the spin-off series Mayberry RFD.
Goofs[]
- In this episode Barney invites all the single girls in Mayberry to Andy's house, not once but two different times, supposedly to meet Thelma Lou. All of the girls show up at Andy's front door, and all of them entered the door from the right side. Never passing in front of the screen door & the steps to Andy's porch area on the left side. So, either Andy moved his steps for this episode, or all of these girls were jumping up on the porch from the right.

Quotes[]
Barney: You know what they say about a man who keeps putting off getting married. They say he starts getting irritable. Yep, that's what they say. Especially a man who's been married once before. He knows he's gonna have to take the plunge again someday, but he keeps putting it off. And the more he keeps putting it off, the more desperate he gets, and the more desperate he gets, the more irritable he gets, and the more-
Andy: Will you shut up?!
Barney: There you see? How irritable you are? Proves my point!
