Summary[]

While Aunt Bee is away, Andy and Opie to take care of themselves. When Peggy volunteers to cook for them, Floyd tells Andy that she is trying to catch a husband.

Plot[]

When Aunt Bee leaves for a few days Peggy offers to check on the boys. Floyd thinks this is a precursor for Peggy looking for marriage. This puts the idea in Andy's head.  When dinner rolls around Opie flips a coin to determine if they have pot roast or chicken. They choose chicken but end up burning dinner.

Peggy arrives just in time and offers to fix the pot roast. Peggy sets up an amazing dinner table complete with candles. The boys are very impressed. 

After dinner, they retire to the porch where they sing. After a song its time for Opie to go to bed. Opie asks for Peggy to come up and say good night. Peggy asked to come back again tomorrow night to fix dinner. It's at this point when Andy is reminded of Floyd's prediction.

The next day Floyd is at the courthouse with Andy and Opie. Peggy stops by to bring the boys lunch. Andy tried to put her off but she insists. Floyds waste no time and poking fun at Andy by humming the wedding march. Opie asks if Peggy is practicing for when she and Andy get married.

Later at the barbershop Floyd continues to talk about the potential relationship. Andy is determined that there will be no relationship. Andy leaves mad. He later tells Peggy by phone that she didn't need to come over to make dinner. Weenie's and Beans just don't compare. After dinner on the porch, Opie wants to talk but they find it hard to come up with any details. Peggy stops by later and Opie begs her to make him some more food. They soon realize that they needn't worry about Floyd's predictions.

Notes/Trivia[]

  • Opie says Andy's favorite is crusted chicken but in other episodes, his favorite is leg of lamb.
  • This is the first mention of Barney vacationing in Raleigh.
  • It's been said that Joanna Moore (Peggy) has a limited run on TAGS because she was 'too glamorous' for the town.
