Summary[]
A notorious, nationally known con man dubbed "Gentleman Dan" becomes a hero of epic proportions to Aunt Bee, Opie, and Barney when he is held for two days in the Mayberry Jail.

The Gentleman Crook Arrives
Jail has ever housed. It's doesn't take much for Gentleman Dan to not only charm his way into the good graces of an already smitten Barney, but Opie and Aunt Bee also. A master of charm, Dan is treated practically like royalty when he locked up. Andy, however, is none too trusting of Mayberry's guest. Of course, it's not long before Dan turns the tables on his newfound friends in an attempt to escape. It's Andy's quick, thinking that saves the day and keeps Caldwell behind bars.
Notes/Trivia[]
- Barney misfires his gun for the second time. The first misfire was in Episode 2, The Manhunt. He is also told for the first time by Andy to keep one bullet in his pocket. He accidentally fires a shot into the courthouse floor. Later in the episode, Andy fires the gun, thinking that it is empty.
Goofs[]
When Gentleman Dan arrives, Barney is in the back room and removes his bullet from his shirt pocket and puts it in his pistol. In this shot, Barney is not wearing a badge on his shirt.
