Mayberry Wiki

Summary[]

Aunt Bee wins a kitchen-full of new appliances on a TV show but loses all her friends.

Plot[]

[Re-write] The Taylors return to Mayberry after their trip to Hollywood and it turns out that Aunt Bee has had quite a good fortune. It seems she appeared on a quiz show and won several thousand dollars worth of prizes. Bee is excited at all of the new things she's won, especially a new full-length mink coat. She ever so slightly puts on airs but soon some of her friends, like Clara Johnson, become jealous and start to avoid her. Andy gets a bit of a surprise when he gets a visit from the IRS telling him that they owe over $1000 in taxes on the prizes won. Aunt Bee has a solution to this and her own problem.

Notes/Trivia[]

  • This is the fourth and final episode in the Hollywood Story Arc.

Goofs[]

  • While everyone is in the Taylor kitchen to see Aunt Bee's new appliances, Floyd Lawson is standing up against the wall where the black kitchen wall phone should be. It is not there, but does return later in the episode when Bee shows Helen and Andy that she had sold her new things.
  • When the Taylors return to Mayberry, Opie shows his autograph book to Goober. Goober remarks on Audie Murphy's signature saying, "Look at how he makes his 'Y's. I wish I had a 'Y' in my name." Goober had two spoken last names during the show, both of which had a ‘Y’ in them: Beasley and Pyle. This interaction may imply that Goober had a third, unspoken, last name.
