Bill Idelson (August 21, 1919 - December 31, 2007) co-wrote, mostly with Sam Bobrick, nineteen episodes of The Andy Griffith Show and 21 episodes of Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C. He also wrote episodes of "The Twilight Zone", "The Dick Van Dyke Show", "The Flintstones", "Get Smart", "Bewitched", "That Girl", "Love American Style" (for which he received an Emmy award nomination) "The Odd Couple", "The Bob Newhart Show", "Happy Days", "M*A*S*H" and "Punky Brewster". As an actor, he appeared on many TV series, most notably as the recurring character Herman Glimsher on "The Dick Van Dyke Show".
