
Herbert W. Spencer (April 7, 1905 - September 18, 1992) co-wrote The Andy Griffith Show theme song "The Fishin' Hole" with Earle Hagen. He also composed music for the TV series "Make Room for Daddy" and "Tammy". He worked as composer and orchestrated for many Hollywood films, receiving Academy Award nominations for Scrooge and Jesus Christ Superstar. He orchestrated many films scored by John Williams, including the original Star Wars trilogy, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Superman, the first three Indiana Jones movies, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Empire of the Sun and Home Alone.
