Hope Summers (June 7, 1896 - June 22, 1979) played Clara Edwards and her various pseudonyms on The Andy Griffith Show and Mayberry R.F.D. She also played recurring roles on the TV series "The Loretta Young Show", "The Rifleman" and "Another Day". Her film appearances include Zero Hour!, I Want to Live!, Inherit the Wind, Claudelle Inglish, The Children's Hour, Spencer's Mountain, The Hallelujah Trail, The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (with Don Knotts), Rosemary's Baby, The Shakiest Gun in the West (with Don Knotts), The Learning Tree, Ace Eli and Rodger of the Skies, Charley Varrick and Foul Play. She was also the original voice of the TV advertising mascot Mrs. Butterworth. Hope also made two appearances on Welcome Back, Kotter as Ms. Riley in 1975.
