I has this thought just the other while watching TAGS.
the TAGS episode "Quiet Sam" Barney becomes suspicious of a new farmer names Sam Becker. Sam is a farmer who's wife is pregnant with their son.
Sam Jones (Who replaced Andy Griffith) is also a farmer who has one son.
On the last episode of TAGS Sam Jones states that he was in the Army. Sam Becker also states he was in the Army.
So I think it is possible these are the same people but they just changed their names. It is possible that Sam's wife may have died after they had their son?
