Larry Hovis (February 20, 1936 - September 9, 2003) played recurring characters on The Andy Griffith Show and Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C. He also played Sergeant Andrew Carter on "Hogan's Heroes". In 1968 he was nominated for an Emmy Award for co-writing the pilot episode of "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In", and subsequently appeared in several episodes.
