Myers Lake is the main fishing hole just on the outskirts of Mayberry in Stokes County. It's the main fishing area for locals. Children often played around the lake and it was a popular camping site. It was also very popular for dates due to its reclusively.

Myers Lake is the location of the opening sequence in every episode of The Andy Griffith Show. The woods surrounding the lake are vast as Barney Fife and Gomer Pyle get lost in them while the two were on a camping trip with Andy Taylor, Opie Taylor, and some of Opie's friends. On a separate occasion, Opie and his friends find vagabond David Browne camping around the lake. [1]
The lake is a popular date spot for many Mayberrians, including Andy and Barney. Andy has taken Helen Crump and Peggy McMillan on several dates to the lake, and Barney has likewise often taken Thelma Lou there on dates.
Convicts have been known to hide around the lake. Eddie Brooke and Dirksen both escaped from prison on separate occasions and hid around the lake.
Nancy Hughes describes Myers Lake as "beautiful and so romantic" while she is picnicking there with Sam Jones, Millie Swanson, Howard Sprague, Emmett Clark, and Pete Clark. Millie echoes her sentiments. Sam refers to it as a wonderful piece of property, though notes there are dangerous trails around it. [2]
Ernest T. Bass creates the illusion of a monster in the waters at Myers Lake, scaring local residents. [3]
