[Re-write] The good folks of Mayberry are thrilled when they learn that the Governor of the State is going be visit them and take part in their Founders' Day celebration. They also learn that the State Mobile Museum will be sent to the town. The Museum contains many valuable artifacts including paintings, coins, and memorabilia. Warren thinks that the planned activities lack oomph and that they should fire the old cannon in the town square. Andy tells him to forget it but he persists. Actually, the cannon becomes useful when a couple of tries to rob the museum.
Notes/Trivia[]
- During the parade, the Mayberry Band plays the theme song of Mayberry R.F.D..
- When the Governor starts talking and everyone behind him takes a seat, you can see Floyd Lawson take his seat very slowly, evidence of actor Howard McNear's stroke.
- Andy says the museum even has Martha Washington's lavalier. A lavalier or lavaliere or lavalliere is an item of jewellery consisting of a pendant, sometimes with one stone, pendulous and centered from a necklace.
Goofs[]
This isn't the original Town Canon. In season 1 episode 14 The Horse Trader, Andy is tasked with selling the town's Canon which clearly has a badly blown out muzzle. Andy succeeds in selling the Canon for $20 only to have somebody else by the Canon from the person Andy sold it to and donate it back to the town.. the canon in this episode has a pristine barrel that was never damaged.

Quotes[]
